iGrant.io, a MyData Operator for businesses, today released its Data Wallet, a mobile application for data exchange. The iGrant.io Data Wallet provides privacy protection for individuals accessing their personal data and re-using it wherever and whenever they want. The Data Wallet is encrypted end-to-end and reduces the risk of non-compliance to data regulation for any organisation (Data Source and Data Using Service) engaged in the exchange.

In light of recent announcements by national governments about their plans to introduce digital health certificates, variously known as ‘immunity passports’ or ‘Corona Passport’, the iGrant.io Data Wallet presents a secure solution to this very urgent matter and is ready for trials. The Data Wallet is a decentralised privacy application which, by using self-sovereign identity technologies, ensures that the data is tamper proof.

Using the Data Wallet involves:

• Connecting to organisations: Connect to any Data Source to add data or to exchange it with any Data Using Service.
• Adding data: Receive data from a Data Source via notifications and add them to the Data Wallet.
• Exchanging data: Exchange data to any Data Using Service via a QR Code or NFC based blip.

Based on distributed ledger technology, decentralised privacy removes any intermediaries, increases the potential of better returns for organisations and better services for individuals. Decentralised privacy is largely automated, fraud resistant and allows individuals to be in control of their data.

The iGrant.io Data Wallet is a mobile Aries agent, available as an SDK for developers or fully white-labelled for businesses. iGrant.io expects the Data Wallet to be production ready after a short beta programme.
