Description

Today it was announced that iGrant.io, in collaboration with Unikk.me, is one of 15 projects to qualify for the second of the three stages in eSSIF-Lab’s open business call for self-sovereign identity (SSI)-based solutions.

eSSIF-Lab is an EU project that aims to advance the broad uptake of SSI as a next generation, open and trusted digital identity solution for faster and safer electronic transactions via the Internet and in real life. eSSIF-Lab is part of the EU’s Next Generation Internet (NGI) initiative that aims to shape the development and evolution of the Internet in response to people’s fundamental needs, including trust, security, and inclusion, while reflecting the values and the norms all citizens enjoy in Europe.

The ambition of the competition, which triggered 54 submitted proposals from 21 countries, is to make it easy for organisations to deploy and/or use SSI-based solutions. Selected projects were invited to join an eight-month acceleration programme, structured in three competitive stages. Those reaching the last stage will get equity-free funding up to €106K.

iGrant.io co-founder and CTO, Lal Chandran says: “We are pleased to be one of the 15 companies that will compete to reach the next stage of the competition. Our solution, enabling SSI into the MyData Global Operator stack, takes human-centric data governance to a new level and enables any organisation to become a trusted digital agent. With our strong team of software and business developers as well as backing from Data for Good, we are ready to take the next step in the challenge to help realise the eSSIF-Lab vision”
