iGrant.io joins WE BUILD to showcase European Business Wallet at GDC Conference 2026 in Geneva

European Business Wallets are transitioning from specification development to functional infrastructure supporting organisational identity, delegated authority and trusted payments. At Global Digital Collaboration 2026, iGrant.io will participate with the WE BUILD consortium to share practical insights and pilot findings from building this infrastructure.

Three iGrant.io representatives will participate: George Padayatti (Partner and Head of DevOps), David Goodman (Partner and Chief Evangelist) and Lal Chandran (Co-Founder and CTO). They will contribute to sessions covering European Business Wallet implementation, EUDI Wallet-enabled banking and interoperability testing, accompanied by working demonstrations developed through WE BUILD consortium partners.

iGrant.io will participate in Global Digital Collaboration 2026, held from 1-3 September at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland. The Swiss Confederation is hosting this three-day conference, which will convene approximately 2,000 leaders from government, industry, standards organisations, foundations and technology communities. Across 144 sessions, participants will examine collaboration, standards and interoperable infrastructure advancement for digital identity and address global digital transformation challenges.

Within WE BUILD, iGrant.io has developed infrastructure for PA4: Trusted eReceipts for B2B payments, including a 5-minute demo video and a short business value pitch. This use case has been selected as a finalist in the Global Digital Trust Awards 2026 for the Business Value Award category. The WE BUILD Consortium is co-organising sessions on European digital identity Large-Scale Pilots, European Business Wallets, AI agents, payments, digital signatures, trust infrastructure and interoperability. The three iGrant.io representatives will appear in four sessions on 2-3 September, discussing practical experiences implementing and testing wallet infrastructure within European Large-Scale Pilots.

Session 1: A company has no fingers: Why the European Business Wallet is not a personal wallet at scale: Lessons from WE BUILD

When: 2 September, 14:00, Room Delta

This session will present technical and architectural perspectives from WE BUILD’s work on the European Business Wallet ecosystem within the European Digital Identity framework.

“Unlike an individual, an organisation cannot identify itself or provide consent through personal actions such as a fingerprint scan.”

Business Wallets must support organisational structures, legal representation, delegated authority and auditable employee, representative, system and digital agent actions.

The discussion will examine how WE BUILD partners convert evolving specifications into near-production implementations for real business and government scenarios. This session is co-organised with Linux Foundation communities, including the OpenWallet Foundation, Trust Over IP and LF Decentralised Trust.

Session 2: Corporate-to-corporate: The European Business Wallet as trust infrastructure for B2B identity & payments

When: 2 September, 09:00, Room K

This roundtable will trace a single company’s journey from incorporation through trust establishment, transaction and proof documentation. It will demonstrate cross-border KYC/KYB and bank account opening, issuance of a certified, reusable IBAN attestation, payment using the verified IBAN, and a closing eReceipt that strengthens transaction records and helps reduce fraud. Lal Chandran will join Marie Austenaa from Mastercard and Sylvie Calsacy, WE BUILD Co-lead for Business Payments at Onepoint, alongside industry peers collaborating within WE BUILD.

This demonstration shows an employee paying using Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) in the EUDI Wallet, with the signed eReceipt landing in the company’s European Business Wallet and VAT automatically reconciled with the tax authority, eliminating manual data entry.

Session 3: Interoperability in practice: Testing and sandboxing EUDI and the European Business Wallet

When: 2 September, 17:00, Room L

Interoperability must be demonstrated across wallets, issuers, relying parties and national ecosystems rather than assumed from specifications alone. This session will bring together experience from Large-Scale Pilots, national sandbox initiatives and organisations actively implementing EUDI and European Business Wallet solutions.

Speakers will discuss how structured testing and sandbox environments help identify integration gaps, validate cross-border and multi-party interactions, and transition digital wallet services from regulatory requirements towards scalable adoption. iGrant.io will join representatives from Signicat, Procivis, Lithuania’s State Digital Solutions Agency and the University of the Aegean.

Session 4: Using the EUDI Wallet for consumer banking and payments

When: 3 September, 10:00, Room Alpha

This session will explore EUDI Wallet support for consumer banking and payment journeys, including customer identification, bank account opening, authentication and payment authorisation. It will examine how verified identity data and wallet-held credentials can reduce repeated data entry, strengthen security and create seamless experiences across banks, payment providers and digital services.

Discussion will draw on practical implementation work within WE BUILD PA2. iGrant.io is developing a demonstration through interworking with Bank iD CZ, showing how EUDI Wallet and banking infrastructure can collaborate across identity verification, credential exchange and payment processes. iGrant.io will join Mastercard, the session moderator, alongside representatives from Authologic, Bank iD CZ, IDnow and Compellio.

Why this matters

European Business Wallets are intended to provide companies and public-sector bodies with trusted methods to identify themselves, exchange verified information and demonstrate authority across borders.

“Delivering this vision requires more than issuing digital credentials. Implementations must support organisational structures, representation, delegation, governance, interoperability, and reliable trust relationships among issuers, wallets, and relying parties.”

They must also be tested across real services and jurisdictions. Global Digital Collaboration 2026 provides a forum for implementers, policymakers and industry participants to examine these challenges together and share lessons from systems currently under development and testing.
