iGrant.io at Trusted Economy Forum 2026: EUDI Wallet across services and borders

Description

A digital identity wallet proves its value when a person can use it to access a service, share a verified credential or sign a document. For the organisation accepting that interaction, the value depends on its ability to verify the information, establish trust, and integrate it into an existing workflow. As European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet programmes move from planning towards deployment, these become practical implementation questions. Electronic signatures and e-delivery also need to work within the processes that public authorities and organisations use every day.

The interest extends beyond Europe. Countries looking at the European technology stack are considering how its foundations could support their own digital services. That raises a question central to this year’s Trusted Economy Forum 2026: what has Europe built that can work elsewhere, and what depends on its own legal and institutional environment?

Representing iGrant.io, Lal Chandran (Co-founder and CTO) will contribute to this discussion, bringing an implementation perspective on how digital identity and trust infrastructure can become useful services across organisations, sectors and borders.

About the event

Under the theme “Connected by Trust”, Trusted Economy Forum 2026 brings together public administration, technology developers, trust service providers and organisations implementing digital identity services.

The two-day programme examines EUDI Wallet readiness, electronic signatures, e-delivery, electronic attestations of attributes, business wallets and digital public services. It connects developments in regulation with the decisions involved in putting these capabilities into use: integrating services, establishing trust between participants and making digital interactions work for users.

This makes the Forum a place to compare implementation experience with the expectations of policymakers and the organisations that will use these services.

About the debate

The debate, “Europe’s Digital Identity Ecosystem: from trust infrastructure to global reference model – is this the realistic scenario?”, will explore the growing interest in European digital identity technology beyond the EU. The discussion will consider which technical foundations can be reused internationally, what needs to be adapted to national contexts, and how implementation experience can guide those decisions.

Lal Chandran (co-founder and CTO, iGrant.io) will bring implementation experience from the Organisation Wallet Suite, Data Wallet and the EWC and WE BUILD large-scale pilots. He joins Katarzyna Zajkowska (Ministry of Digitalisation Affairs, Poland), Katarzyna Seroczyńska (Legal expert, Centre for Information Technology), Jan Szajda (CEO, IDENTT) and Edgars Stafeckis (CEO and Co-founder, Trustlynx), bringing together policy, legal and technology perspectives on Europe’s potential as a global reference model.

Why this matters

Interest in Europe’s digital identity ecosystem extends beyond its regulatory framework to the technology and implementation approaches behind it. For countries outside Europe, this raises practical questions about which standards, wallet components and trust mechanisms can be reused and which depend on European legal and institutional arrangements. Understanding that distinction can help governments assess how these foundations might support their own digital services.

For countries considering Europe’s approach, the discussion has a practical purpose: understanding what can be reused, who needs to operate it and how it should fit national requirements. Europe’s potential as a global reference model will depend on how well its infrastructure supports those decisions.
