iGrant.io at the WE BUILD 2026 General Assembly in Bucharest, Romania

Description

The WE BUILD 2026 General Assembly takes place from 3 to 4 November in Bucharest, Romania, hosted by Visa and Banca Transilvania. The event will bring together 450 representatives from more than 200 organisations across 28 countries to review progress across 13 use cases covering business, supply chains and payments.

Following the consortium’s launch in Amsterdam in September 2025, this year’s gathering will focus on results from ongoing pilots and priorities for the next phase of wallet implementation. As a consortium partner, iGrant.io contributes to business wallet capabilities, payment workflows and interoperability infrastructure.

About the 2026 General Assembly

Themed “WE BUILD for the Future”, the two-day assembly will focus on pilot progress, regulatory developments, and the adoption of EUDI Wallet and European Business Wallet solutions. The first day will feature domain panels covering business, supply chains, and payments, alongside use case demonstrations, updates on eIDAS 2.0, EU digital identity regulations, and discussions on the adoption of the European Business Wallet.

The second day will explore “The Wallet Is Not the Product: Adoption, Trust and Utility at Scale”, followed by work package updates and breakout sessions. These discussions will help consortium partners assess implementation challenges, share pilot findings and establish priorities for the next phase of WE BUILD.

Our contribution

Building on its experience from the European Wallet Consortium (EWC) Large-Scale Pilots, iGrant.io contributes to three key work packages through its Organisation Wallet Suite (European Business Wallet) and Data Wallet (EUDI Wallet for Individuals).

WP2: Wallet for business

iGrant.io supports organisational credential issuance and verification, legal representation, and Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB), Know Your Employee (KYE) and Know Your Supplier (KYS) processes. These capabilities enable trusted interactions between businesses, including cross-border registration, delegated authority and supply chain transactions.

WP3: Wallet for payments

iGrant.io supports wallet-based banking and payment workflows, including identity verification, Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), account onboarding, and payment authorisation. Its work also covers account-to-account payments and verifiable eReceipts that connect business purchases with accounting and VAT reconciliation.

WP4: General capabilities

iGrant.io contributes to shared wallet architecture, conformance specifications and interoperability testing, including the WE BUILD Interoperability Test Bed (ITB). Its work covers PID (Person Identification Data)/LPID (Legal Person Identification Data) integration, wallet attestations, lifecycle management and trust infrastructure, supporting consistent interactions between independent wallet implementations.

Why this matters

For European businesses, digital wallets must do more than store credentials. They need to support transactions across different organisations, services and national systems while maintaining trust and verifiability.

Through WE BUILD, iGrant.io is helping test these capabilities in real-world business and payment scenarios. The findings will provide practical implementation experience for organisations preparing to adopt EUDI Wallet and European Business Wallet services.

About the WE BUILD Consortium

WE BUILD is an EU co-funded Large-Scale Pilot that brings together public authorities, financial institutions, technology providers, and other organisations to develop and test wallet-based services for cross-border business activities.

The consortium’s work supports the adoption of interoperable digital identity solutions across the European Single Market.
